Food Testing in India

Ensuring the quality and safety of food products is not just best practice—it’s a regulatory requirement in India. Under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, Food Business Operators (FBOs) must conduct food testing at least once every six months through NABL-accredited or FSSAI-notified laboratories. This ensures that products remain free from contaminants, adulterants, and mislabeling, safeguarding consumers and businesses alike.

At Pioneer Food Solutions (PFS), we simplify this complex process. We assist food manufacturers, importers, repackers, and relabelers in conducting mandatory food testing, ensuring that your products are compliant, safe, and trusted in the marketplace.

What Is Food Testing?

Food testing is the scientific analysis of food products to determine their:

  • Microbiological safety (bacteria, fungi, pathogens)
  • Chemical composition (pesticides, heavy metals, additives)
  • Presence of adulterants
  • Nutritional content
  • Allergen presence
  • Shelf life and packaging compatibility

This testing is mandated by FSSAI under the FSS Act, 2006, to maintain food safety standards across India.
